Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarini Siribajra

On 15 June 2026, representatives of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies (CISTU), Thammasat University, joined the university-wide memorial service held across Thammasat University’s four campuses to pay tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Princess Rajasarini Siribajra.

Led by Dean Assoc. Prof. Saifon Su-indramedhi, Ph.D., and members of the college administration, faculty, and staff, CISTU participated in the ceremony alongside the wider Thammasat community in remembrance of a royal figure whose contributions extended across law, justice, human rights, and social development.

A Legacy Beyond Public Office

Throughout her public service, Princess Bajrakitiyabha was widely recognised for her commitment to improving access to justice and expanding opportunities for vulnerable populations. Her work demonstrated how legal frameworks, social welfare systems, education, and community engagement must often work together to address complex societal challenges.

Among her most widely known initiatives was the Kamlangjai Project, which sought to improve the quality of life and rehabilitation opportunities for incarcerated women and their families. The initiative highlighted the importance of dignity, inclusion, and long-term social reintegration—principles that continue to resonate across many sectors of Thai society.

Reflection on the Role of Higher Education

For institutions of higher learning, moments of remembrance also provide an opportunity to reflect on the broader purpose of education and public engagement.

As an institution committed to interdisciplinary learning, sustainability, and community-oriented knowledge, CISTU recognizes the importance of developing graduates who are capable of addressing social challenges through collaboration across fields and sectors. The values reflected in Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s public service—responsibility, compassion, and practical action—remain relevant to the work of universities preparing students for an increasingly complex world.

Continuing the Commitment to Society

The memorial service served not only as an expression of respect and gratitude, but also as a reminder of the responsibility shared by educational institutions to contribute knowledge, leadership, and public service for the benefit of society.

CISTU joins the Thammasat community in honouring the enduring legacy of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha and her dedication to justice, opportunity, and human dignity.
