CISTU Partners with KBTG to Launch Future-Forward Master’s Program Focused on Developing Tech Talent

On November 5, 2024, Thammasat University’s College of Interdisciplinary Studies (CISTU) marked a significant milestone by collaborating with KASIKORN Business-Technology Group (KBTG) to launch a groundbreaking master’s program aimed at nurturing the next generation of tech talent. The event, held at K+ Building, Samyan, was graced by esteemed leaders, including Professor Dr. Supasawat Chatchawan, President of Thammasat University, and Associate Professor Dr. Saifon Su-indramethi, Dean of CISTU, alongside senior executives and faculty members.

Revolutionizing Education Through Academia-Industry Collaboration

The collaboration underscores a commitment to bridging academic rigor with real-world industry demands. The centerpiece of this initiative is the newly launched Master of Arts and Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAS), a co-master’s degree program designed to provide in-depth academic exploration combined with practical, industry-aligned applications.

This unique program integrates research-driven education with insights from one of Thailand’s leading tech enterprises, KBTG. Together, CISTU and KBTG will play a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum, selecting students, and supporting industry-relevant research projects to ensure graduates are equipped to thrive in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

Insights from the Launch Event

A highlight of the launch was a panel discussion led by Professor Dr. Sitthipol Kruearattikarn, a prominent faculty member at CISTU. Dr. Sitthipol emphasized the program’s transformative vision.

Program Highlights

  • Interdisciplinary Approach: Students engage in a diverse curriculum spanning social sciences, humanities, science, and technology.

  • Research-Focused Learning: The program emphasizes a robust research foundation, equipping students with skills to address complex challenges in the tech industry.

  • Industry Integration: Through partnerships like KBTG, students gain hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge technology and industry practices.

Why This Matters for Thailand’s Tech Landscape

As Thailand continues its push towards becoming a digital and innovation-driven economy, the need for skilled professionals who can navigate the intersection of technology, business, and society is more crucial than ever. The MAS program aims to address this gap by cultivating tech-savvy graduates ready to lead in fields such as AI, fintech, and digital transformation.

Looking Ahead

The partnership between CISTU and KBTG sets a benchmark for academia-industry collaboration in Thailand. By combining CISTU’s academic expertise with KBTG’s industry leadership, the MAS program promises to produce well-rounded professionals who are not only skilled in technology but also grounded in interdisciplinary thinking.
